Tour Du Mont Blanc-The hardest single day event on a bike !

Saturday, July 20th, 2019.

Fancy a crack at the worlds hardest one day bike event…then this is your event!!.

330k’s and over 8000ms of climbing and descending through three countries, 8 climbs and stunning alpine scenery, in a SINGLE DAY!!

Velocamps run the only fully supported trip to this great event and have an 85% completion rate . We live on the route so know it intimately. You will need vehicle support to maximise your completion chances if the weather breaks, which is not unusual in this high Alpine terrain . The col summits are high, often cold and the valleys hot, requiring regular hydration and clothing changes.

You have the choice of riding solo, like most, or as part of 2 person tag team,  staying 3 nights in our gorgeous little 4 star chalet hotel in the French Alpes. The whole event is ridden as best as possible in small ‘grupettos’,  to share the workload. The organisers pitch the event as a ‘Randonnee’, more akin to ‘expeditionary’ riding than a normal sportive, with  unsupported riders often having to resort to carrying rucksacs. This is why we escort you along the full route with your kit and appropriate nutrition.

Preparation and support is everything to complete this event, provided by our team cars, supplying hot and cold food as needed, regular clothing changes and mechanical support. We have one tail vehicle for the event all day, and a second posted late afternoon on the Petit Grand Bernard, to meet and escort faster riders.

With good endurance training, bike set-up and sensible pacing you should make the various checkpoints on schedule and wear that coveted ‘Triple Flag’ ride-shirt with pride,  putting other Sportives in the shade!

The start and finish will be in Les Saisies, near Megeve in the French Alpes, and we will  circumnavigate Mont Blanc clockwise via Switzerland and Italy. It is a low key but well organised event from the people who run the Marmotte, with 600 riders entered in 2017.

The start has just been confirmed but for 0500 am on Saturday 20th July , 2019 , with the first 20mins requiring lights to descend the first Alpe to Megeve.

So give us a call to discuss entering as an individual or team. with a relay team option this year for the first time you could do 2 countries each! ….
